how do you find a profile on this site?

Question

I need to find the profile of a person I found previously with this profile name:  Montgomery-11350.  I can't find a search field anywhere to enter in that profile. Where is that?  This shouldn't be that hard.  Aaaaargh, WikiTree!!

That ID# you posted, just go to your own profile, remove your ID# and sub in the one for Montgomery and you will get : https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Montgomery-11350

you can also type Montgomery-11350 and wikitree in your search engine and it should be the first result.

with common names I can usually find the profile much faster searching from outside of wikitree just by adding details to the search string like a connected name or an unusual birth place.

the search on here can be irritating and the ordered by date searches are rarely correct for some reason.

I don't see where on my Profile my Profile number is and editable.

It is in the url.

In the browser.  Just replace the end of the URL with the Wiki ID

Also, if you hadn't jotted down the Wiki ID, you could find the person thru your own contribution list if you editted the profile at all, or you could create a list of all people with that surname and look down the list.  Sort by whatever parameters will bring it to a manageable list.  Include the first name if you remember is.  Just don't forget to see if there is a second page - i've been tricked by that one a few times!

I went to the Find menu, then I chose the Search item, then I chose section 3. Matches (Search for Ancestor Matches), then I typed (actually copied and pasted) Montgomery-11350 in the second box (the ID box) and pressed the green button GO and it returned the desired profile along with other possible matches. Then I chose (clicked on) the desired profile.
