18th Regiment Connecticut Militia

I have been working on profiles of members of the 18th Regiment Connecticut Militia that was formed in 1776 under Colonel Jonathan Pettibone. They were part of the brigade that was stationed on Manhattan during the Battle of Long Island. I have done a large part of Samuel Hays' Company and Lt. Joel Hays' Company. I have started work on some of the other companies of the regiment. They were recruited from Simsbury and surrounding areas. It is fun seeing how so many of them were related by blood and marriage.

James excellent work!  So glad to see that these unit categories are getting some love!  I've been working on them myself this week.

Please check out the post on the new 1776 sticker if you haven't seen it yet:

The American Revolutionary War Project (1776) has a new sticker

If you can, as you come across these profiles please try to update them to the new sticker.  We are going to eventually have to migrate them all and if we start chipping away at it now it will make the task easier.  The upside is that for profiles where the start and end dates are not known there will be no blank spots in the sticker.  The unit is easy - it is the unit category name.  I've updted Joel Buttolph's profile as an example.

Thanks again for your work on this!

I just saw this and I am wondering if you have any info on Capt Joseph Fuller

by Anthony Allen G2G Rookie (260 points)

Anthony,

Captain Joseph Fuller was the son of Joseph Fuller and Lydia Day. I have seen his record in the U.S. Sons of the American Revolution membership applications (for Theodore W. Fuller). He has a profile on WikiTree that can be found here:

Joseph Fuller (1723-1795) | WikiTree FREE Family Tree

I have linked him to the 18th Connecticut Militia.
