Introduction to genealogical research in DenmarK

The Danish Genealogical Society - Dansk Slægtsforskere -  has developed an English Introduction to Genealogy in Denmark. The introduction by the society's president Kirsten Sanders gives a good guidance to the different free research possibilities in Denmark. There is also a section with naming traditions and patronyms, which so often causes problems for non-scandinavians.  At the end there is a word list with the most common Danish occupations.

That tutorial by Kirsten Sanders is really outstanding.  It comprehensively covers Danish resources and genealogy, and is very readable. Even experienced researchers are likely to learn something.

Hi, Ole,

This is helpful.  You might also contact the Denmark Project to add this information to the project resources.

Stay safe.

Ole, thank you for the link. A lot of this document also applies to Norwegian research, particularly the section about parish registers.
