When and where was Martha Hodgins born

She was my paternal grandmother and she had a sister called Jessie and three brothers.  She ended up living in Saltney, Near Chester.  I think she and family came from Liverpool originally.  She is related in some way to William Hammersley Hodgins who became a captain in the NYPD in 1903 - can you help me find the link between them?
