AmericanAncestors has published a large collection of digitized archival mataerials -- letters, diaries, bible records, photographs, etc. It is really fantastic. The first thing I looked for was a bible that I knew existed, but could not locate -- and in a few seconds I was viewing and downloading pristine images of the very thing!
