G2G: Advice before adding father of this pre-1700 Godfrey profile?

I can add a father to the profile of Joseph Godfrey. This is who I can add:

• Charles Godfrey

These are the sources I am using:

• Other member trees from ancestry.com and research.

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

I'm afraid that member trees are not acceptable sources for a pre-1700 profile.
