Suggestion for an a-thon

I think this falls in the right category.

I would like to propose we organize a project-a-thon.

I am part of the Italy Project.  I have projects within this group I would like help on like indexing the birth records of people from Sondrio, Italy.

This is different from most a-thons in that most a-thons are correcting information that already exist in Wikitree. My project-a-thon would not be about that.

My project would actually include creating new sourced profiles. Perhaps the tally could be the number of profiles added to a project and/or the number of profiles in a project edited.

You could choose whatever project you were interested in.  one name, one place studies or idea notables. Another idea is taking a known document and attacking it creating sourced profiles. Perhaps the Greer family genealogy or swaffords of sequatchie valley tennessee  .. This is great for people who belong to a project to make great contributions and work towards a common goal

This is just a thought. Have you suggested this to your Project Leaders? I ask because the England Project has its own mini thons with our project members.

I did. And we have a team for source a thon. Which of course is providing a source for already existing profiles. That is why I think this a different type of a-thon. This a-thon is also about creating new profiles.

We have England teams for the annual thons, like the source-a-thon too. We also have different mini-thons within our own Project through out the year.

The annual Connect-a-Thon is based on profiles created.

Having a thon that is also based on profiles edited is different. I am not sure how that could be monitored. Someone with more knowledge about that would have to answer that. It is definently an idea though.

You may want to edit your post and add the tags 'projects' 'sourcerers' and 'proposal' those tags will help bring more attention to your post. smiley

thanks edited this one to reflect those tags

Lance, if not a WikiTree wide Project Thon, why not find a "sister" project and have yourselves a little challenge/thon of your own one weekend?

The Dutch project for example usually at the beginning of May has its own Project Challenges. So there is room within WikiTree to do project related Thons or Challenges or whatever you may call them.
