Comments on Samuel Jesse Phipps and a merge

The Wordpress item is in the sources on the Samuel Jesse Phipps profile. There are no sources. There is no mention of a Samuel, so I am unsure why you have stopped the merge from being completed. Please explain the reasoning why you think these are 2 different people with the same wives and information.

I think Linda is more likely than not correct. I would proceed by removing the unmerged match and re proposing the merge.

The idea he is Samuel Jesse but goes by Jesse is quite common in families where one name is passed down the generations.

You can always mark the first name Samuel as uncertain, and put Jesse as prefered name.

While these profiles concern one of my ancestors, I am not a manager of either one.  The manager of Phipps-1599 has not responded at all.

I did propose that "Samuel" could be removed, but your suggestion is even better.  But I was curious as to the best way to handle it.  Thank you.
