I estimate that there were 1500 McPhees in Glengarry, Ontario in the 1850s all with the same group of names: Alexander, Archibald, Angus, Duncan, Donald, Dougald, James, John, Hugh/Ewen, etc and the women were Nancy/Ann, Mary, Margaret, Catherine, Christina/Christy, Jane/Jennnie/Janet, Isabella/Elizabeth, Sarah/Sally. Some researchers have posted combinations elsewhere of perhaps John and Mary and their children likely named all of the above however it is absolutely essential to link the name with the property concession number and lot number to identify which John and Mary. I've now attempted to record all the McPhees of Glengarry, Ontario up to 1900 just to sort them out. Grateful for any additions to this collection. My family is of Concession 5 Lot 27, John & Mary!! John born 1760 Knoydart, Mary in 1762.
