Should this profile be merged with Gilyam Terhune (Terhune-400)

The profiles cannot be merged because as you go up the chain of ancestors, they do not match. Either these profiles are not for the same person or there is an error in linked ancestors.

Yes, they should be merged, as they are both the same person. Good find.

However, first the LNAB on one profile should be corrected to Ter Heun (the name on his baptism record), then the other profile should be merged into the Ter Heun profile. If you prefer, I can do the renaming part for you.

Also, note that his father should be Albert Jansen Terhune, not Albert Stephense Terhune. See the other G2G for details.

I changed the LNAB, connected the profile to the correct parents, and project-protected the renamed profile to ensure that the merge can only to go to the renamed profile.

I proposed the merge but nothing has happened.  Am I supposed to initiate the merge?

When you proposed the merge, the system sent an email notification to the manager of the other profile. This gives him a chance to see what was proposed and decide if he agrees. The system allows profile managers 30 days to respond to a merge proposal.

This other manager seldom edits, but his contributions history shows that he does respond to merge proposals sometimes, so I think he deserves more time on this one. I know that this waiting can be frustrating, but it is part of collaboration...
