My 2nd great grandfather was John Cook (b. 1783 in Connecticut; d. after 1860). The only record I can find for him was 1860 census when he was living with my great grandfather (Henry P. Cook) in Amboy, Lee, IL. Has anyone researched this line to discover his birth date/place and parents? I have no information regarding his wife. They had 3 children: John Henry Powell Cook (b. 1824 in Herkimer, NY; d 1882 in Portage Co, OH); James Marin Cook (b. 1826 near Albany, NY; d. 25 Nov, 1896 in Findlay, Hancock, OH) and a daughter (birth and name unknown but I do know she was alive in 1894 per James M. Cook's obit and probably lived near Garrettsville, Portage, OH). Both Henry P and James M are buried in New Freedom Cemetery, Portage,Co, Ohio. Henry P. was married (about 1858) to Margaret Elizabeth Howe (b. 3 Mar 1838 in Lockport, Niagara, NY; d. 1907 in Walsenburg, Huerfano, CO, buried in Masonic Cemetery in Walsenburg). James Martin was married (25 Nov, 1856 at Bloomington, IL) to Angeline Depew (b. 7 Oct 1838 in Indianapolis, Marion, IN; d. 17 Feb 1922 in Willoughby, OH.). I've hit a wall in my research for John Cook and hoping someone else has researched the line and is willing to share information. Thanks.
