My GSMD membership is based on descent from Elder Brewster's daughter Patience who married Thomas Prence. Wikitree shows my line to his sister Prudence instead and therefore not descending from Brewster???

Based upon the following WikiTree link between you and Elder Brewster...

https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:Relationship&action=calculate&person1_name=Muller-141&person2_name=Brewster-4

... Your a direct descendent of Elder Brewster who's your 12th GGF.

I hope this helps clarify your question... :-)

Just an FYI... I'm a direct descendent of Elder Brewster who's my 12th GGF through one of Elder's other children.

Thank you, Cousin Brian. So I apparently have two paths but the second one is to his sister Prudence. But Prudence did not travel on the Mayflower and she is not a "descendant" of Elder Brewster. Apparently FamilySearch FamilySearch.org/Mayflower doesn't recognize my correct path. Hmmm.

You actually descend from both...

William (Brewster-4) is the 12th great grandfather of Doris

And...

Prudence (Brewster-101) is the 11th great grandmother of Doris

You descend through different lines until the 1800s. Then it seems your separate lines joined into one. So yes, your GSMD membership is correct, and so is WikiTree.

Hope this helps,

Ken

Thank you for clarifying. Apparently, the new FamilySearch database FamilySearch.org/Mayflower does not recognize my correct path to Elder William Brewster. They must have looked at the path to his sister (who obviously is not his descendant) and decided I am not  a descendant. Hmmm.

It appears to me that they chose the shorter route. Prudence is your 11th Great-grandmother, while William (of the Mayflower) is your 12th Great-grandfather. They probably didn't even look at the alternate path to William.
