I am trying to find out how to get information about Revolutionary War veterans.

Question

I am trying to find sites to track down Revolutionary War veterans. I have about 10 names that I am positive we're contributors to the war effort. I keep running into sites that charge for membership.

Revolutionary War Pension Application files are available from HeritageQuest which can be accessed from home by many/most library card holders in the U.S.  See links:

If you cannot find what you are looking for some members here have access to paid sites and are happy to do lookups.

You will need to furnish name, dates, places or profile id’s.

The Daughters of the American Revolution has a lot of free information on their site, https://www.dar.org/. If the veteran has descendants who are members you will see basic information on their service in the GRS, genealogical research, but the library also has digitized resources.
