Schindler/Schintler project

The goal of this project is to explore family connections of these two families who both lived and were born in Clausthal, Germany; then a part of the Kingdom Reich of Hanover, previously a part of Great Britain.

Right now this project just has one member, me. I am Michael Schindler.

Here are some of the tasks that I think need to be done. I'll be working on them, and could use your help.

  • Attempt to connect all Schintler names of these immigrants  to their previous "Schindler" birth name (where applicable).
  • Find any DNA links, or direct bloodlines between the USA "Schindler's", and the Australian Schintler's.
  • make personal connections with living members in Australia.

Will you join me? Please post a comment here on this page, in G2G using the project tag, or send me a private message. Thanks!

From reviewing these two families, it is apparent they have much the same roots.  Also there seems to be confusion and possible duplication of names.
Confusions arises, in this case at least partially, in the common names separate families know for their ancestors considering nick names, preferred names baptism/birth names (4 or 5 at times).
See Schindler-1124 --name alone can be confusing.

This is part of the Schindler Name Study, correct?

No, I wanted to join the two names in that group but didn't think it was permitted for me to add it there.  So this is a personal free space.  That would be a good place for it though.
I still have never figured out how or why the name changed upon arrival in Australia, a mystery probably forever..
Nice to hear from you Natalie.

Ok, I linked your page TO the name study, though, because it could be good information for anyone researching the surname.

I had to fix the category name, because you cannot us the "/" slash character in category names.

Take care!
