The first step is to build your tree back closer to that time so you have a better idea where to look.  FamilySearch has quite a few Revolutionary War records, and the Daughters of the American Revolution have a lot of information in their "GRS" (Genealogical Research) data base which is also free.  It only includes people whose descendants have joined the DAR, but can be very useful.  Pay sites like Ancestry and Fold3 have still more information.  Fold3 periodically has free access to some of their records.
