Olaus (or Olaf) Söderberg-301

I know nothing of Swedish genealogy. I've reached a roadblock with Olaus (or Olof) Söderberg-301 born in Torhamn, Blekinge, Sweden some time before 1838. His wife was Sofia or Sophia Albertina Jönsson. I have found a Sweden, Household Examination Books, 1880-1930 but can't find any birth details for him or his wife. The wife's birth place was abrieviated to Cka. Birth records found for two of the children and a third from Australian records.

My guess, based on what I can decipher from the record, is that Cka. is an abbreviation for Carlskrona.

Can't really help beyond that, though.  Wish I could.
Thanks for the translation of the abreviation. I was wondering if it could be Carlskrona
If you look at the image there are birth details.

You can also see that the image is from ArkivDigital. I always wonder why the FamilySearch citations for this collection refer to MyHeritage (did the indexing) but not to ArkivDigital (provides the original images). Sorry, I know it's not your fault.
FamilySearch seems to have a deal with MyHeritage for searches and hints. This is unfortunate because MyHeritage trees often show no verifiable references and do circular sourcing off each other like Ancestry.

Birth details are in the image linked to there. The columns för "Födelse" are about births. There "År" is year, "Mån. och dag" is date, and "Ort" is place.

Olaus Söderberg's birth date is 15-Nov-1822. (Note day/month notation.)

This is better than an episode of "who do you think you are." I'm not proficient in Swedish so this degree of working out wouldn't have been possible without all your help. I'll see what sources I can find on Familysearch for Cicilia's birth and death and what I can find about Åke Nilsson although I guess without DNA matches it would remain a "parental event."

You really should familiarize yourself with ArkivDigital or Riksarkivet as they have the original scanned images. I found all the information on Riksarkivet and it is a free source.

Familiarity doesn't help terribly much when you can't read the language.

Thanks, I'll bookmark all those sites

Found Åke Nilsson in the 1824-1829 Household Examination record for Konungshamn. Torhamn, Blekinge. Says he was born 30 May 1800 in Konungshamn. At the time he was married to Maria Mansdotter and had two children, a son Ola, born 1825 and Karin, born 1828. Further research finds him dead 5 June 1838 in Konungshamn. I found the birth record and he was indeed born 30 May 1800 to Nils Andersson and Karin Olasdotter

Where did you find his relationship with Cicilia?
On Ola Söderbergs birth record. Lists father as Åke Nillson at the bottom.
Yes, and that record also mentions that he is from Konungshamn.
Åke Nilsson married Maria Mansdotter on 1 April 1824.

Thanks Eva and Richard. I can just make out the details in the original birth image now. I found Åke had four children by his other wife who appears in Familysearch as Maria Monsdotter. Their children were Ola (1825), Karin (1828), Karin (1831) and Mons (1835) all born in Torhamn.

Now for Sofia Albertina Jansson - she was born in Karlskrona stadsförsamling16 May 1832 to Olof Jansson and Helena Sofia Sandstrom, who was 31 years old at the time of the birth. That should give you a start on her.

Thanks for that. That led to a stack of siblings for Sofia:

Children:
  1. Hans August Jönsson
  2. Sophia Albertina (Jönsson) Söderberg
  3. Anna Maria Jönsson
  4. Eduard Oscar Jönsson
  5. Victor Emanuel Jönsson
Jean, I see you have looked at the profile for Jonas Walberg. I was wondering what happened to Olaus Söderberg after his mother died,  as he was only 9 years old. In the household record for Sibbeboda 1831-1835 there is a reference to Jonas Walberg after Olaus' name, says Jonas Walberg 1831. I'm wondering if Jonas took in Olaus after his mother died. I haven't found any records for Jonas other than a birth record for a son born 1821 in Konungshamn. A search of the household records in Konungshamn after 1831 may tell us what happened to Olaus. Do you have a connection to Jonas?
No, I just took a wrong turn when I was looking into Ola Karlsson Karlsson-2710
I did find Olaus  living with Jonas Olsson Wahlberg and wife Inger Andersdotter in the 1831-1835 and 1835-1840 household record for Svanhalla #36. Not sure what the relationship between Jonas and Olaus' mother was. Jonas was another seaman or sailor so maybe there was a tie between Jonas and Åke Nilsson.
