I have been dabbling in genealogy for many years and have not had success beyond my ancestor, William Scott, who died in Bedford County Virginia in 1794. I believe that he had arrived in Bedford County about 1740 and that he was married to Lucretia(Lucy) James who died in 1808. I believe that he came from the Maryland Eastern Shore area. DNA studies show close ties to the Nix,Nixey family. I would like to refine my findings re the Nix family, whether my ancestor was born in this country, and whether he came from England or Scotland.
