Anne Rolfe(?) and John or William Barnett of early Virginia

While reviewing project-protected profiles, I stumbled across this family unit.

There are two issues related to the family:

  1. What evidence at all supports the oral tradition that she was granddaughter of Pocahontas?
  2. What evidence is there that this family-- whoever her parents were-- lived in early Virginia and had family?
Anne is attached to two husbands by more or less the same name; both of the profiles are in need of attention/merging. But from what I can see, there's little real evidence that this family even existed in early Virginia.
Prove me wrong, please! ;-)
Help find sources that support this family's existence and relationships. THANKS!

One of these families lists several children born in the 1700’s.  A 55-60 year old woman would not be having children.  It may be that the family is real but the husband and wife were born 40+ years later than shown on their profiles.
No early land grants to anyone named "William Barnett."

A woman named "Ann Barnett" or "Anna Bernard" received land grants in 1651, 1652, and 1653.  Among the headrights she claimed was her son, Richard (he received the land at her death).  No mention of a husband.

Someone named John Phipps or Phillips received land in 1665 naming as a headright a "Jno. Barnett"

The John and Anne Barnett who were the parents of the children listed in the profile Barnett-9726 lived in Middlesex County, VA.  Their children were baptized at Christ Church:

"Virginia Births and Christenings, 1584-1917", database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VRR7-3GK : 28 January 2020), John Barnett in entry for Anne Barnett, 1719.

"Virginia Births and Christenings, 1584-1917", database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VRRQ-TR5 : 28 January 2020), John Barnatt in entry for John Barnatt, 1704.

"Virginia Births and Christenings, 1584-1917", database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VRR7-SW8 : 28 January 2020), John Barnett in entry for William Barnett, 1715.

"Virginia Births and Christenings, 1584-1917", database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VRR7-827 : 28 January 2020), John Barnett in entry for Richard Barnett, 1706.

So perhaps we should adjust these parents' births to align with the births of their documented children?
Ps. Thanks...
I couldn’t easily trace that couple farther back, but they could be turned into two real people at least.
Anna Bernard/Anna Barnett was the wife of Richard Bernard/Barnett. These are the American ancestors of Princess Diana 1st wife of Prince Charles (present day)

Anna and Richard Bernard/Barnett have no connection to Anna Rolfe.

The story of Anna Rolfe being descended from Pocahontas came about after that connection was published in a genealogy of Pocahontas. There was never any evidence of such a person and this lineage has since been taken out of the newer editions of genealogies of Pocahontas. But the legend lives on....
Mic,

Thanks, but Anna and Richard are a different couple than that under discussion here.

I know that I am from the Powhatan tribe the last name that connected was Golden . All of my genealogy has been messed up on this site as well as familytree I don’t know how to get it all back or fix it . I was trying to print it off for my grandchildren. It’s not about Pocahontas for me but the history to share.

Patricia, you might want to start a new thread and provide more details about where you think the line is messed up.
