This information should be useful for any of my cousins out there researching the caucasian Holloway line of Columbia, South Carolina.
It seems I have exhausted all online resources looking for information about my 3rd Great Grandfather Joseph Wesley Holloway. Here is what i have collected so far.
Joseph Wesley "Whiskers" Holloway was born between 1842 and 1853 in South Carolina. He was a Constable under employ by SC Governor Benjamin R. Tillman, along with his son Henry. Joseph was also an employee of Pinkerton National Detective Agency, and used many aliases (according to my Great-Aunt).
He was described as a "rough and ungainly looking man" in the Aug 9 1893 edition of The Watchman and Southron newspaper, when he participated in a storehouse raid in Sumter, SC.
He married Nancy Rose(Rose-15298), and had two children; Henry Wesley Holloway(Holloway-4219) and Olive Gertrude (Holloway) Spivey(Holloway-5038).
While married to Nancy, he had an affair with Martha Ann (Atkinson) Dickert. This affair produced one child; Mikell O'Brion Holloway(Holloway-3368). He also adopted Martha's son, Joseph Atkinson(Atkinson-9826).
Joseph Holloway died 23 Sep 1909.
I think i will have to go to the Richland County Library next, or wherever Pinkerton keeps their records.
Update Feb 15 2022:
I have emailed Pinkerton concerning their records before their acquisition by Securitas AB. Additionally I have added the grandchildren of Joseph Wesley, and their descendants.
