Unsourced Profiles that are "Public"

I have come across a number of unsourced profiles which have a "Public" status - ie deceased persons, but you need to be on the Trusted List to make any changes / add source info.

3 questions

1 - is there any way of adding an "unsourced" category to these profiles, and if so is there any benefit in doing so?

2 - if contacting the profile manager has not been successful to be added to the Trusted List, is it ok to add source information as a public note to the profile?

3 - Will these profiles remain "public" status for ever?  Or at some point do they automatically become open (x years after death for example)

Profiles of people who were born 150 years ago or who died over 100 years ago should be open. Adding sources as a comment is perfectly acceptable. If you get no response to a Trusted list request you can go through the Unresponsive Manager process.

Many ''public'' profiles can have living descendants, so not open totally.  I would suggest adding your sources as a comment and moving on, whenever the profile becomes fully open the data will be there for someone else who comes along.
Danielle, that should be an answer.

Thank you Danielle, I think this is the best use of my limited time also.

We shouldn't let the perfect be enemy of the good! :)

Open profile request is found under the wikitree ID menu drop down of profiles that are not open for editing. You can include multiple wikitree ids in one form, even if they are not related.

If you have done a trusted list request and got no response, you only need to send the 2 other types, some of which you may also have done.  Just keep track of what profiles an dPM you are doing that for, so you can review it in a week to submit the Unresponsive PM Form. You would submit it from the profile that you would like to update by going to Family Tree and Tools at the bottom of the list.
