For 30 years I have hunted for the names of Sarah Emma Martin's Parents, another researcher has spent the same amount of years as well. Trees had her attached to someone that could not be her, as that Sarah was still living with her parents and no kids in 1870.
I went to Oklahoma in 2017 to do in person researcher, and while I learned a ton about the family, wills and court records still to transcribe, saw her old house, there still was no clue to her parents. I've gone through the DNA and certain she is a Calvert or Worrall as well, but so far had not attached any to a Martin.
On Monday night I was doing my profile rounds of who is the profile that has waited the longest to be worked on and it was her 2nd husband, which then led me to search for her 3rd husband.
Looking for her 3rd husband, I found the marriage announcement in the paper, noting they had been married at the Catholic Church. Which I do know the Catholic Church keeps records, and more then likely wanting both parties to be baptized Catholic. I called then followed up with an email.
I am now holding a baptismal certificate, that was done as conditional that although she did not know her birthdate or birth place, it clearly states her fathers full name and mothers first name.
They did not have the marriage record for some reason, so I'll follow up with the other churches in the area the Rev. officiated at next week.
So never ever give up, and another reason I love wikitree, as it gives me an order to work through profiles on and come back to them after a time to rethink a person, go through the evidence, what are you missing that might exist on the time frame you are looking at and how are they engaged with their community.
