What does 'Disputed' mean under religion on a passenger list?

In the passenger list for the 'Florist' (arrived in NSW in 1839), Benjamin Foster's religion appears to be 'Disputed' (I could be misreading the handwriting):

Does anyone know what this means? His children on later pages are listed as Protestant.

I think it says "Dissenter,"  apparently not Catholic, C of E, or Wesleyan.

Thanks Kathie, yes, I misread. I assume this is why his marriage and children's births are not turning up in parish registers, etc.
