No idea where the “Deerwalker” name comes from.  It’s not in any records.  Her family lived briefly in the Chickasaw Nation in Indian Territory in between Missouri and Texas, but no one was Indian, they were all white.

Vertie, Welcome to WikiTree and thank you for introducing yourself in our g2g forum. This was a great place for you to ask your question.

Looks like Kathie Forbes has a great answer for you.  Is Alice a relative of yours?

It would be great to see you upgrade to a family membership. You would be able to start adding your family and eventually connect to our One Family Tree.

Welcome again to WikiTree.

More likely that Joseph Norman and Evalina Hatfield were her parents.  Father is listed as J.N., Joseph N., Norman, and is transcribed as “Jesse” in 1880.  She appears on the 1880 census with them in the same place she married in 1883.  She says on the 1900 census her parents were born in Tennessee and Indiana which agrees with the information on the1880 census.
