Providing a GEDCOM developed from a published family history book (pre 1900)

Question

I (painstakenly) developed a GEDCOM tree for the book "A Genealogical and Historical Record of the Descendants of John Pease, Sen., Last of Enfield, Conn"
S. Bowles, 1869 - Connecticut - 401 pages

This is a seven generation decendant record. While the subject is part of my personal family tree, it has not been attached as of now. I would like to provide it for the grand FAMILY TREE and for others to utilize.

What would be the best way to go about this? Is there a tutorial or help file?

Help:GEDCOM (no automatic or en masse import of profiles)

Help:GEDCOMpare (process requires individual processing of profiles; adding profiles is semi-automatic process)

Help:Splitting_a_GEDCOM (advice if you haven't used GEDCOMpare: start with a VERY small test GEDCOM - no more than a dozen or so)

There is a wikitree Space page for john Pease Book, which gives you the citations that can be used, as well as the online links to be used with your citations

Is it less than 10,000 people or more?  I think if less than 10,000, you can just upload it, but you’ll need to check for matches.  If more than 10,000 people, not sure.

Gedcom of 10,000 people is way too much to upload at one time.  Each of those records has to be reviewed before any one of them are entered into wikitree.

Looks like the limit is 5,000, not 10,000.

No one recommends using a Gedcom anywhere close to that size. It will take a very long time to review all of those names before you can start adding them to wikitree.  Most people recommend first one at 50 to learn the process, but most that have done it, have also stated they prefer to take the time to enter one profile at a time to make sure formatting and information are correct.

I concur, bringing in 5,000 would be difficult, especially if a lot of them are profiles that already exist.  I did a GEDCOM import only once, and it was a few years ago, it was maybe 200 profiles, and it required a lot of work.

Try taking one grandparent line to see how many people would be in that group, or only do a couple of generations, especially to start

Most of the people from that book are already on WikiTree    What is needed are sources for many of the later generation profiles. importing the GEDCOM will require careful checking for matches
