My 3 X grt grandfather, his place of birth on the 1851 census of England is listed as Bridgenorth, Shropshire. On the 1861 census his birth place is listed as Amos Green, Salop.

A google search for Amos Green only finds a person, a landscape and still life painter.

Can anyone find Amos Green a place?

One of my many x greats was born Money Row Green - turns out Money Row was one of three that skirted the town green!!

Made complete sense to them, but left descendants scratching their heads.

There is a Salop st, Bridgnorth, Shropshire.
Thanks Marion, it's a possibility, Salop is an old name for the county of Shropshire, it was still in use in the 1920s, my dad's birth record says Wellington, Salop and he was born in 1927.
