Donnie, you may have found this at some point in your research, but here was some old speculation I found at Genealogy.com:

There are several of us researching him and we have not found his father after about 27 years or more. However we do think there is a possibility that it is John Briant Jr. son of John Briant Sr. of Pendleton District SC.

If this is so, John Briant Sr. could be the son of Richard Briant son of Philip Bryan(t). I personally have been researching Philip and found him to be the son of Mathias O'Bryan of Charles County MD.

Please note: that this is NOT verified or confirmed that Terrell Kirksey Bryant and John Morgan Bryant are brothers or are the sons of John Briant Jr. BUT, it is possible. They were all going to Big Creek Baptist Church.

John Briant Sr. died in 1822 per the records at Big Creek Baptist Church.
John Briant Jr. died in 1844 per the records at Big Creek Baptist Church.
John Bryant per the abstracts in the book Some South Carolina Records Vol 2 page 185 the estate of John White of Greenville County SC warrent of appraisement: was the son of Richard Bryant. Also listed with him is Hardy Bryant, James Bryant, Nancy Bryant, Absolam Bryant, Nedom Bryant and William Bryant.

1850 census-living in Eastern subdiv., Anderson Co, SC w/wife Rebecca and children John R., Clary C., William T., Simon, Kirksey, Jacob M., and Nathan B. Next door neighbors are son Bert Bryant and wife Charity. Occupation farmer w/real estate $1000.
