In a probate in Porsgrunn, Norway in 1805, a Jens Olsen Grubbe is mentioned, living as a shoemaker in "Hornbech ved København" whither he went 27 years ago.

If there's somebody who knows anything about this guy or even has him among their ancestors, please let me know.

Yes, definitely. My estimate of his birth year abt. 1760 is based on the information that he left for Denmark "27 years ago" (ie. abt. 1778), but this may well be rather off the mark. He probably left soon after confirnation.

The rest of the chronology fits with a birth year about 1767. His mother was born about 1741, and his sister about 1776.
The name of his eldest daughter "Torberine Magdalene Catrine" is a very clear sign that this is the right person. She's obviously named after his mother Torberg.

Great! But how do I cite this source? I can't see any information about the book anywhere. I'm probably spoiled by the Norwegian Digitalarkivet cool, which provides source info with a single mouse click.

I normally cite with an inline reference like this

<ref> [http://www.sa.dk/en Danish National Archive], København: Frederiksborg Amt, Frederiksborg Slotssogn 1814 - 1834  [https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?bsid=149770#149770,24794092 p. 396]</ref>

OK - it look s wrong here, but I think it will look alright at his profile smiley

Wow, thank you! I'm very unfamiliar with Danish archives, and this is of real help. I just copied and pasted your reference.
Du spørger bare en anden gang - just ask

Thank you Ole! Very nice citation. laugh

But, how do you collect all the (information) parts for it? (I'm thinking if I should build a reference tool for it).

I'm not sure I understand your question - prøv på svensk smiley

In the 1787 census there are two shoemaker Jens Olsens in Helsingør

1) https://www.danishfamilysearch.dk/cid621124 and

2) https://www.danishfamilysearch.dk/cid614106

Maybe you can differentiate them at Skomagerlavet
