The Scotland Project is hard at work improving profiles for our Scottish Ancestors and we would love you to join us!  The Project covers all things Scottish, so no matter what you interests are, there's a team waiting for you!

You'll begin with a journey down our new Tartan Trail (you can learn more about it here) where you'll not only improve and/or learn new skills, but will also meet new people and learn to work within an active, collaborative WikiTree community.  Once you've completed the Tartan Trail, you'll be invited to join other teams within the project that interest you.

Membership Information

If you are new to WikiTree and have not become a full member you will need to upgrade to Wiki Genealogist Level. Sign our Honor Code to receive your Wiki Genealogist badge, which is a necessity for editing profiles. Full details can also be found on the Scotland Project home page. This will also give you a time line of what to expect from the Tartan Trail.

To start your journey, post an ANSWER below!

Don't forget to add the Scotland tag to your profile page

I am a member of The House of Gordon as my great grandmother was Elizabeth Lobdell Gordon b.1856 in Lowell, MA. I am a direct descendant of these Scotsmen:

Hon Anthony Stoddard b.1600

Alexander Gordon b.1835

Thomas Doughty b. 1630 (The Involuntary American)

King Malcom "Canmor" b.1031

Also, my wife's family comes from the Dees of Aberdeen, so I am interested in the WikiTree Scotland Project.

My ancestry is Scottish on both sides, Hamilton and Boyd.  I have been able to track my Hamilton side back to Ulster Ireland.  I look forward in to participating in this project. I am very active in the Clan Boyd and Clan Hamilton.
by Living Boyd G2G Crew (440 points)
Ah, this is my experience also - I have an Ulster 'Hamilton' grandmother and her mother was a Craig. Would like to figure out their connection to Scotland. I also have a connection to Boyd's of Kilmarnock.

My Ancestry DNA has 53% Scottish so I am looking for the connections to my Scottish ancestors.  The families I have identified so far are McKinney and MacDonald. Thanks!

Greetings from Canada. Overdue for me to join the Scottish Project!  Of particular interest to me is to see why and when my maternal grandmother's HAMILTON and CRAIG parent's ancestors in Ulster originally came from Scotland. My maternal grandfather's parents were INNES from East Lothian and LAMONT/D from Ayr. On the other side I have Glasgow HILL's and border GRAHAME's. My gran passed along a paper family tree showing direct line(s) to Robert the Bruce, but I have yet to be able to connect my tree in. Also there's a connection by marriage to the BOYD Earls of Kilmarnock. Sign me up!

I think I may have commented a long time ago instead of answering! I’m very interested in your Tartan Trail. All my family are from Scotland and, having been born in Canada, I’ve lived here since the age of 3.

My family bears the surname Park. They are proving to be a rather elusive and "private" group! I have been searching for several years now and was even able to make a DNA connexion ( that seems to have gone nowhere). My grandfather John Edward Park and before he and his family emigrated to Canada in 1925 he worked in the "New Market" in Aberdeen as a butcher. My grandmother, Charlotte Davidson, also worked there in a sweet shop owned by her aunt Margaret Park. Does anyone have a line on these folks? I would love to hear from you

Thanks

I would like to join the Scotland project and maybe find some answers to my ancestors.  I have a great grandfather who came from Scotland, his last name is McCormack, which I found is a sept of the Buchanan Clan.  I can find no information about him at all, so I hope this can help.
by Scott Blakley G2G Crew (710 points)
Hi Scott

We would like to welcome you to the Tartan Trail but one of the requirements is that you sign the Honour Code, as you cannot edit profiles, that are not your own without having done so.  Once you have please answer again here and I will forward the joining information to you.  Any questions about this, again comment here and I will try to help.

Hello, yes to the Scottish Ancestors Project: I've been creating profiles for my wife's family tree and it's a real challenge to be sure I've got the right Alexander McLeod - or is it Alister MacLeod? These Scots!
