The Scotland Project is hard at work improving profiles for our Scottish Ancestors and we would love you to join us!  The Project covers all things Scottish, so no matter what you interests are, there's a team waiting for you!

You'll begin with a journey down our new Tartan Trail (you can learn more about it here) where you'll not only improve and/or learn new skills, but will also meet new people and learn to work within an active, collaborative WikiTree community.  Once you've completed the Tartan Trail, you'll be invited to join other teams within the project that interest you.

Membership Information

If you are new to WikiTree and have not become a full member you will need to upgrade to Wiki Genealogist Level. Sign our Honor Code to receive your Wiki Genealogist badge, which is a necessity for editing profiles. Full details can also be found on the Scotland Project home page. This will also give you a time line of what to expect from the Tartan Trail.

To start your journey, post an ANSWER below!

Don't forget to add the Scotland tag to your profile page

Hi. My great grandfather's family were from Gardenstown in Banffshire. They were called Wiseman, Grant, Nicoll, Watt, Paterson, Low, West, Sutherland and Duncan.

I'd be happy to connect with anyone whose ancestors correspond with mine and am especially interested in seeing photos of the family members involved.

Thanks so much!

Scotland?  HA!  I'm a Campbell, you can't get much more Scots than that.  Even if I still haven't found that elusive immigrant Scottish ancestor.  At least, not yet!  I would greatly love to join this project.

Peace,
Bruce Campbell (no, not THAT one)

My Great Grandparents were from Falkirk.  My Hayworth family line goes back through to Henry Haworth (for some reason the name changed to Hayworth with the birth of Henry's son) half of the famous Haworth brothers who were artists in residence at the world famous Carron Works.

I am also descend from Wallaces and MacAlpines.

My father's mother was from Glasgow. She was a Nelson.

My paternal great grandmother  was Mary Ann Fox Houghton who lived for a time in Glasgow . I believe both paternal great grandparents are buried in Glasgow. I would especially like to learn more about the Glasgow Nelson's, and great grandmother Mary Ann Fox of Glasgow.

Interested in joining the Scotland Project. I'm Scottish born and bred; descended from Lockharts (primary line), Grays, McRaes, McKenzies and Montgomerys on my father's side. Wiki Tree is taking a bit of getting used to but I love the collaborative nature of it.

On my mother's side, her father. Lawrence George Urquhart, from Grand Manan Island, New Brunswick, Canada. On my father's side, he her youngest of eleven, his mother, Margaret Gregory. I know something about the families, though much less about the Gregory side, once the caretaker's young nanny at Bedloe's Island, Statue of Liberty, NYC. My mother's, Adelaide Martha Urquhart, mom, was Mary Elisabeth McEntee. My father's dad was Joseph Myers, they say the "family" from 1800s Bavaria, married there to Barbara Jenkins (actor Richard Burton's surname). There is a genealogist in the family Karen Urquhart, Grand Manan Island, Canada.

My fourth great grandfather was Holden Turner.  And my fourth great grandmother was Jennet Hutchinson, both from Scotland.  He immigrated to New Brunswick in 1783.  Not sure when she came.  He was in the British Infantry ('Foot') and came with it to NYC during the Revolution but saw little action as he came late just before Cornwallis' surrender.  I have four generations before Holden and 5 generations on a maternal side all in Scotland.  But I don't have anything on this family in Scotland after 1778.  Other surnames in Scotland are: Hutchinson, Boyd, Walker, Begg, Alexander, Campbell, Craufurd (sic), Brakinridge, Wicketshaw, Anderson, and Boyes.  In some cases I only have names with the earliest individuals.  These people tend to be in Glasgow and Lanarkshire generally.

I would like to join the Scotland Project.   I have several colonial era Virginia ancestors that presumably came from Scotland, including those with surnames Lumsden, Anderson, Barkley, White, Craig, and Walker on my paternal lines.  Most of my colonial maternal lines were probably English.   I belong to the FamilyTreeDNA.com Lumsden Y-DNA project and only one of my distant matching Lumsden cousins who lives in Canada has a definite ancestry two generations ago in Banffshire, but he can only trace back to the mid 1700s.  My ancestor John Lumsden probably came from Aberdeenshire to Virginia about 1750 but I cannot prove his parentage.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have some Scottish roots I'd like to explore. I can trace back several generations to Cupar, Fife and the Elder clan. I'm finding it all quite fascinating and would like to do more of this.
