White-60117 Any documentation on Lucy White b.1742- Marion, Marion, South Carolina, died 1802 South Carolina,

0 votes

Some profiles have her father listed as Cornelius White 1708-1796 (White 7215) and Sarah Ford (Ford-5796). This Lucy (Mayflower Whites) does not fit geographically to be the wife of Absalom Turbeville (Turbeville-252)1742-1782 died in battle. Another Lucy White, White-32656.

I added some documentation to her profile. In 1802 he petitioned for support based on Absolom's service. By then she was "Lucy Windham" and had been widowed a second time.

Thank you Janelle!  Would you have anything on Absalom?
Not really I found that on the SC archives site, which I'll link below, but it did not have anything else for absalom. There are records for other turbville so you might want to search the index yourself. Based on the petition it does not sound like absalom owned any land or property so I doubt there would be probate or land records for him. Various Tur are mentioned in A HISTORY OF MARION COUNTY. SOUTH CAROLINA, From Its Earliest Times to the Present, 1901. so you might want to check that source, though It does not include any dates or very clear family connections.

Thank you again, I'm familiar with W.W. Sellers oral history of Marion County SC.  I'm looking for source documentation.

You could also try looking through the Marion County deeds for Turbeville. There are quite a few of them, but they only go back to 1800. The previous deeds in that county I think would be in Georgetown SC, but they don't have their deeds on Family search.
