Best practice when a profile is conflated and open about it?

I looked at the profile of George Knight as part of the Connectors Project. This profile lists that it is NOT another George Knight, and has the other George Knight's sources and information, while this profile also lists under the Connector's Project Essex, England region due to this other George Knight. What's the best practice and next steps to resolve this?

In general for conflated profiles:

1. Determine which person it would be easier to dedicate the profile to.

2. Propose - eg by public comment on the profile - that (a) the profile be dedicated to that person (Person A) and (b) you will create a profile for the other person (Person B).

3. If people agree or don't object within one week, go ahead and, first, create a new profile for Person B and, then, revise the original profile so that it is dedicated to Person A.

4. Make sure that (a) the parents, spouses and children on the original profile are connected to the correct profile and (b) that any links to the original profile in the profiles for the parents, spouses and children of the original profile are connected to the correct profile.

I would also suggest making sure that each profile has a link to the other, with a statement about there being two different people with the same name and warning against merging them.  You could also enter a rejected merge for them.
