I would like some help finding my grandmother's birth records

I would like some help, please. My grandmother, Jamesina (Queenie) Hateley, was born in 1888 - 26 January, at Apsley, her mothers name is Ann Salina Hateley. We believe her Father's name may have been Fitzpatrick, but she also went as Hateley. I can find no birth records, I am very interested to know if I have Irish blood lines, from this man of mystery. Thanks in advance

There is an Apsley in Australia, South Africa and England.
My mother's birth Certificate  (Register book notation) gives her mother's birth place as Apsley SA (there is no such place) I suspect it is Apsley Victoria as this is within reasonable distance from her mothers family area, north of Portland Vic. a family tree book by the Hateley family says Heywood. I suspect Grandmother was illegitimate, they may have taken a little holiday for the birth event.
Apsley SA would be South Africa perhaps?
Wow South Africa, that's a wild card, I would not have thought my grandmother would have any South African affiliation, but she doesn't appear in Victorian records as far as I can find. Wowie and the other Apsleys in Australia (NSW and Tas) seem to just be areas, but I guess they may have visited family somewhre and they seem to have rural leanings. Very curious.

Hi Philip, you might like to upgrade your membership (free) by signing the honor code. Then you can start adding family, add parents, then grandparents and on up the tree. Always have at least one proper source per profile.

Familysearch.org is a free site.

Yes this is my Grandmother.

She was born "Jamesina "she went by "Queenie" and it appears even on official documents.

She was born 4 years before the date of her mother's marriage to Andrew Kennan McCracken, her mother's maiden name was Ann Selina Hateleley .  We have Queenie's oldest daughter's record of birth,Queenie's maiden name is listed as Fitzpatrick on subsequent birth certificates of later children her maiden name is listed as Hateley. I am hoping to find her birth certificate to see if her father is mentioned. We have grown up believing we had Scottish blood and now we believe it may be Irish, I can  find no record of birth, was it not uncommon to to not register birth and could one get through life without record of birth record / certificate ? Is adoption in 1800's a possible further reason  for a birth certificate to become hard to find ? Sorry for pressing on I don't want to wear out my welcome with this wonderful facility, but this is quite vital to my search for my heritage.
If you, as Marion suggested, upgrade your membership, you could begin building what you know of your ancestors, and once you have something from which to start, you could ask for help from the Adoption Angels.
