The Musty Dusty Pre-1500 Source-a-Thon Team starts our work tomorrow (Friday) at 8am EDT in the US. I will hopefully be on at at that time to get a get a quick start.

Here are some important links:

Our Musty Dusty page for this years Source-a-Thon: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Musty_Dusty_Pre-1500_Source-a-Thon_2020

The Source-A-Thon page is chock full of details page: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Source-a-Thon We are tracking like last year using the Challenge Tracker. After you click to save on a profile change, Click on the Challenge Tracker at the top of the page. A new window will appear. Select the Source-A-Thon 2019. (The button is not there yet).

Feel free to share how you plan to attack the pre-1500 profiles during this Source-A-Thon. You can work on a specific families, on a specific geographies, or however you like. The more we know about each other the less we will bump into each other editing profiles.

Thanks, and remember that we now have our Pre-1500 Resource page, if you are having any problems finding appropriate sources.

If you haven't already have a look at the latest in what profiles we can update during the Source-a-thon https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/470614/what-profiles-count-as-unsourced-for-the-source-a-thon (from two years ago but is still seems appropriate.)

Happy Sourcing

Hi Musties!

For those who are interested in Scotland, we have a category for our Medieval unsourced profiles:

Medieval Unsourced (Scotland)

It's a bit raw & random at the moment, so there may be some in there that aren't also in the Unsourced category (so you wouldn't get Source-a-thon credit - watch for the orange banner), but all of them could use any source that your might find in your travels.

Thanks to all of you who work so hard on these early profiles!

I see that France and England set up Medieval Project Maintenance Categories under the Medieval Project

Yes. Scotland had ours built before the Medieval Project was created and we had our own sub-project already started.

I am finding the List maker app https://apps.wikitree.com/apps/ashley1950/listmaker/ quite helpful for Source-A-Thon as I have deep European roots. I use the filter for Unsourced, so it finds profiles that are both pre-1500 and my ancestors.

Grrrr I spent all day and only got 1 with secondary sources. I got all the easy ones last year.

Yup. I spent a lot of time on old Scottish profiles. Some took hours to just get one source. Some ended up getting merged away. I also cleaned up lots of bios getting rid of gedcom crud added inline sourcing so I can see which source said what. And also ended up adding lots of Research Notes for what was unsupported/unsourced in profiles.  While not tons of new sources, WIkiTree is better for the effort.
