Hello,
My name is Steven Harlan and it sounds like thus is an exciting time to join WikiTree. With very little knowledge or experience, the only way is up and I'm ready and willing to start climbing. My views towards genealogy have evolved as youthful apathy has been replaced by curiosity, and an appreciation for humility.
Proud paternal lineage provided excuse to look away from the sparse branches amongst which my mother grew.
My interest and brick wall is her father, an immigrant to the US from Brazil in 1927, who was enmeshed in Pan Am Airways' special operations in 1939, born with an improbably complex Portuguese name, of an impossibly gender obsessed culture. With my mother at 4 months old, he left her with only bedtime tales to be recounted by those that were awed by his gruseone death aboard the China Clipper in 1945.
Not yet adept at sourcing, but with an appreciation of its criticality, "precise", "sleepless", and "marathon" are words never applied to me without degrees of sarcasm. But giving it my best shot is something I can always do.
I'm on my marks, I've got set, just say go!
Steve
