Anyone out there remember me? Aged 77, brought up in Hackney, east London, went to Owen's School, Islington, then became editor of three trade magazines.

I'm wondering about the trade magazines that you mentioned. Hope you will post more information and ask some questions.

I worked as a junior reporter on the Loughton Express & Independent local newspaper before moving into trade magazines. I was news editor on The Caterer & Hotelkeeper and later finance editor on the Grocer, where I worked for 20 years.

In between, I was editor of Shopping Centre and then Modern Home Buyer. My most recent position was editor of Cash & Carry Management.

Welcome to WikiTree Mervyn.  I had a look to see if we have your Gilbert ancestors in the Gilbert Surname & DNA Project and if your family is related to other Gilberts in London that  I know about.  I assume that your father was Aaron Gilbert.  Was he born in London or is that another Aaron.  Have you researched his ancestors?
