awarding a badge

Was trying to award a badge which was on the badge page as one I could award that was not yet awarded.  So I did.  However, the message returned was that the person has  "already been awarded" the badge.  This leaves me perplexed about the process of awarding badges.  The instructions seemed straight forward, so I have no idea what went wrong . . .

Sometimes badges are shown as an example, even if the person already has that badge.

An alternative, if your wanted awardee has all badges, it to post a Wonderful Wikitreer "award" for them.
