Further to a debate some time ago, ref the Holcombe family of Hull, Devon, and the Ilcombe family of Plymouth.
Joan Holcombe, daughter of Roger Holcombe, was married to William Pery of Water, 1466 - 1547, in 1490. See the Visitation of Devon, for both Perry of Water, and Holcombe of Hull.
Alice Ilcombe, daughter of John Ilcombe of Plymouth, married William Pery of Breamore, he died in 1590. See the Visitation of Wiltshire 1565.
Very clearly they are two different persons, and should not have been merged. We can reasonably assume that William Pery did not live for 124 years.
Also, the will of William of Breamore, held at the court of Canterbury, TNA ref Prob 11/31, States that John Pury of Warminster is his cousin, as shown in the Visitation of Wiltshire, and this might suggest that the 2 William Perys were related, as John sent his brother's great grandson Edmund Pery, 1599 - 1655, to join the family in Limerick, Ireland. John's will, TNA ref Prob 11/37.274.
I hope this helps to resolve the confusion caused by poor sources and inadequate research.
