This is a 1923 photo of siblings Helen and George Taylor. George was very interested in genealogy and left several notebooks full of research. He never married and spent his life traveling as a very successful petroleum engineer. Helen only married at age 44, and her two step children died young. Helen worked as a secretary and did a great deal of work as a volunteer. I was given the job in Helen's will of clearing out her home, and I sent 125 pounds of photos, genealogy notebooks, letters, and George's flag and Purple Heart to second cousins once removed. All of their money went to five charities. I miss them both very much--especially at the holidays which they spent in my home.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, Susan. After I saw Alexis's beautiful picture and interesting story, I thought, "who would want to see my family?"  This is one of the very few pictures I have of my father's family. They did not have much money for photographs, or even much money for shoes.

I certainly love your photo it is so cute with the dog, and I certainly want to se your photos I love old photos very much.

It was different in the old time not everyone had money for photos.

But you are lucky with the one you share

This photo shows my grandfather Martin Lewerenz with his 6 siblings Willi, Hinrich, Frieda, Richard, Hulda and Erna and his parents.

The photo was taken in 1910.

The seventh sibling Artur was born in 1911.

“Siblings” took my mind to this one. It is one of my favorite photos of us! (L-R) me, my uncle and my little sis. My uncle, as you can see, is not much older than me. I was the first born of a first born daughter and my uncle was the last born child of my mom’s parents. (There are 18 years between my mom and my uncle.) We lived next door to each other until my uncle went off to college. So I grew up with one sister and one older brother.  This photo was taken in Cumberland county, New Jersey in 1975 (going by the age of us).

I don't believe I have many photos of siblings together that aren't living people.

I do have this photo (shared by someone on Ancestry, as my family were estranged from their direct paternal link) of my great grandfather Albert Sidney Dowding (right) standing next to his brother Edward Dowding (left).

Another one I have, Edward Dowding to the right and their sister Gwen to the left.

I found this photos interesting to look at as there really wasn't much of a resemblance and I was almost left wondering if I had even connected my great nan to the right Dowding family, lol. I did spot a random detail though: myself, my dad, my grandad and Albert Sidney Dowding and Edward Dowding do seem to have identically-shaped chins. Quite random but it's enough proof for me!

My grandmother, Oma M Allsion-Rammel (1895-1995), had two (2) brothers or "siblings".

It was not often that all of them were together in the later years.  Oma lived in the "Family Home" in Assumption, Christian Illinois, where her siblings were both born.

One brother, Dale Omelia Allison (1906-1978), lived in Estes Park, Co in the Summer and Florida in the winter.

The other brother, Harley Francis Allison (1899-1977), lived in New Jersey.

However, in 1962 they happened to be in Assumption at the same time.  Not sure what the occasion was?

Below is a copy of a rare photo of the siblings taken in 1962.

The Reeves Children.  Joe second from right is a half sibling, after his mother (my great grandmother) died, his father remarried, all the others are full siblings from the second marriage.

They are holding a snake! The older ones were born in England and the younger three in Australia where this photo was taken on their farm.  Their father had been a photographer in England.

This photo is of my wife's beloved grandfather, Bill Ireland (lower right), and four of his siblings: clockwise from Bill, his brother Stephen, sister Lizzie, brother Alfred and sister Annie. The rather sober expressions, which, for me, make the picture a bit haunting, may arise from more than just the portrait photography convention of the time. When this photo was taken (sometime between 1914 and 1917), their sisters Nellie and Maggie had both died in 1911, and their parents in 1914. Alfred would be killed in action at Passchendaele in 1917, and robust Stephen would die unexpectedly in 1918. Only Lizzie, Annie and Bill would live normal lifespans.

Thank you Richard for sharing this wonderful photo and stories of your wife’s family. Their profile’s are so interesting; they had so much tragedy. I was especially touched by Alfred being a doctor and being killed while he was attending to the wounded in WWI in Belgium.

From Little House in the Big Woods, by Laura Ingalls Wilder

Mary was bigger than Laura, and she had a rag doll named Nettie. Laura had only a corncob wrapped in a handkerchief, but it was a good doll. It wasn't Susan's fault that she was only a corncob. Sometimes Mary let Laura hold Nettie, but she did it only when Susan couldn't see.

This is a photo of my great-great grandfather and his two sisters, Irene and Alma. It was taken in about 1933 judging from how old each sibling looked. I have no clue where this railroad was, or if it was in Tennessee or Alabama.

Here is a shot of myself & my siblings fishing on the Alouette River in Maple Ridge, BC.  I'm using a stick with a string tied to it.  I'm not too sure of our success here, but I do know we all had a blast!!!

I love the composition of this photograph.  The reflection of the trees in the water and the obvious engagement of the three children in "catching the big one" is very apparent, even though their backs are to the camera.  Love the boys short haircuts!

Not just siblings but twins - this is a photo of my father Ron and his twin sister Vera (who was born first).  This would have been taken in the early 1930s and they are both celebrating their 91st birthday today.

These are my newly discovered half Aunts - sisters Mary and Janet Innes, likely in Scotland. Huge breakthrough this past month when I discovered my grandfather's first wife and daughters (and living grandchildren - 7 new first cousins!)

This is a picture of three generations of the Brown family, in the garden at "The Maltings", Burghley Park, Stamford Baron, in 1925. It includes my grandmother and all her siblings, as well as my great grandparents.

Infant in lap: Freda (Pilcher) Gunn (my mother) (Pilcher-358)

First row: Wilda (Brown) Pilcher (my grandmother)(Brown-61410), Gladys Brown (her sister), Freda (Brown) Page(another sister)

Second Row: Maria (Leach) Brown and Fred Brown, my great grandparents

Third row: Arthur Brown (Wilda's brother) and Alice (Brown) Cooper (her sister)

My mother was close to her aunts and uncle. Every time we returned to England (which we left in 1956), we visited all of them.  This was 1959, 1964, and 1970 (Nana (Wilda) had died by them, but we visited all the others)

Depression era photo of my dad and his siblings. My dad is the youngest. Look at those grubby little feet! I love seeing them all so young. They were extremely poor, but the kids were blissfully unaware of that. They all loved growing up in their tiny town in the beautiful Utah desert, and I love them all dearly.

This is a photo of my grandmother, Rose Margaret Clarke (seated on the right), in 1909 with her brothers and sisters. From left, Laura Louisa, Isabella, Frederick Henry, Nellie May, William Samuel, Edward Charles and Rose Margaret.  The family said the empty seat next to Rose was for Anne Eileen, who was yet to be born. This is the only group family photo I have of my Grandmother and her siblings.
