Disturbing incident; ignore?

Today, a "Marilyn Johnson" completed a merge that I had requested (good!), but in so doing she deleted the profile's bio and source citations. Okay, accidents happen. Then, separately, she unlinked the connection to the father profile. When I went to message her through WikiTree, it seems she deleted her WikiTree account (Johnson-99017). I had her email address from my WikiTree notification of the merge, so I attempted to email her to ask what was going on, but her email address bounced! Seems highly unusual. This felt like something that I should share. ―Ken Nellis

Hi Kenneth

That is disturbing.

Here are some instructions:  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Problems_with_Members

What i took from those instructions is that it would be helpful for you to tag your question above with LEADERS and MENTORS

Well done for picking this up so quickly. I agree that is disturbing. Unfortunately some individuals want to be wreckers and it doesn't take long to cause quite a lot of problems. Anyone who notices a pattern of similar behaviour  ( not the one off accident but repeating it on other profiles ,) shouldn't ignore it.Fortunately, the wiki tree team is aware of this modus operandi and appears to have acted quickly hence the deleted member.

But catching this sort of  behaviour at or just after it happens means further vandalism can be prevented. (it's one of the things Rangers  try to do but can easilly be missed amongst lots of  contributions)

Messaging wiki tree admin and  yes, pointing the problem out on here should get a response.

She did the same with two merges I had initiated. I just went back to the mail I got for the completed merge and had a look at the member who completed the merge. I used the profiles, sourced them again and counted them for the Thon. But at the beginning I also thought "Hey, where are the sources?"

Wow! Could she have been on a vandalism spree? It might behoove WikiTree admins to review what damage she's done in the last day to alert managers to review their specific profiles. ―Ken
Someone has fixed the merges she had processed that I had recommended. Thank-you for pointing this out so quickly.
