George Williamson from Dublin

Can anyone give me a hint about how to find the ancestors of George Williamson (b. abt. 1798, Dublin)

Son of George Williamson and Margareth or Esther Troop.

Graduated from high school in Dublin and graduated from the Real College of Medicine in London in 1824.

Condecorated with the gold medal form the humanitarian society of London by the Queen herself.

Hired in 1833 by the Marmato and Supia Gold Mines. Moved to Colombia where he married in Rionegro, Colombia with Sebastiana Mejía Villegas. Had twelve children and many descendants, and died in Colombia.

I don't have an answer for you, but I have had similar experiences with Irish ancestors.  In America, they're no more difficult to find records for than anyone else.  Once you hit Ireland, poof, no records.
