French Ancestor in the Netherlands

Susanna Adam(s) is my 9th Great Grandmother, according to her Marriage record (1692-Leiden) she is from Larosel, which I believe is a transcription mistake which was meant to be La Rochelle, however I only think this because La Rochelle had a larger protestant community (I think?).

Her Mother (Anna Alij) is listed as her witness. And they were both members of the Waalse kerk.

Now the question, how would I go about trying to find a record of them in France? I can usually find a Dutch record if it was scanned but France is new territory. Any tips?

Hey, maybe add the tag 'france' to attract people working in France?

The stable link to this document is not the search but the link in the tiny link button on the right downside. https://www.erfgoedleiden.nl/collecties/personen/zoek-op-personen/deeds/d8c3d8cc-937a-451a-fcdd-93d064bbccb1?person=259d1da9-0da9-f1c5-caf8-194baa54dc27

Just edited the post accordingly with new Link and tag, thank you

Sytze Brouwer .. Historically during the time you are researching the majority of French people residing in the Netherlands were protestants. The French Netherlands was a major migration area and one of the first areas the French Huguenots who fled persecution went to. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huguenots

Of course La Rochelle's Protestant and Catholic history is well Known.

An interesting study of the period, is King William of Orange ...

The France project has a nice overview of good sources. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:France

Maybe those can help (but I'm no expert myself).

You might research the "Bibliotheque Wallone", browsable at FamilySearch.

Found record of Susanna, referencing Crama:"Netherlands, Bibliothèque Wallonne, Card Indexes, ca. 1500-1858," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QSQ-G9S5-VWJH?cc=2134301&wc=M6TV-DZ9%3A365127401 : 22 May 2014), Ab-Ale > image 1272 of 6531; Bibliothèque Wallonne, Leiden (Wallonne Library, Leiden).

Sort order seems to be ascending date within surname. Select name range to be browsed here:

"Netherlands, Bibliothèque Wallonne, Card Indexes, ca. 1500-1858," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QSQ-G9S5-VWJH?cc=2134301&wc=M6TV-DZ9%3A365127401 : 22 May 2014), Ab-Ale > image 1272 of 6531; Bibliothèque Wallonne, Leiden (Wallonne Library, Leiden).

And fiches of the Crama/Adam couple (marriage and baptisms of children) start here:

Scanned registers for La Rochelle can be found at Archives départementales de Charente-Maritime (in short, AD17).

Maybe you will find her baptism in this register, but you will have to browse 1500 pages as there is no index...
