How long does it take to complete a merge for a contributor gone for over a year?

The last two contributions that the member made was creating a profile then a duplicate profile on 1 Aug 2019.  The member has not made any further contributions.  The merge for this duplicate has been initiated on 1 Oct 2020.

What is the procedure to get this merge to completion?

Essentially - wait 30 days and it will be automatically approved by 31 October

Someone has to manually complete the merge if it is approved by default after the 30 day waiting period. This assumes both profiles have Open privacy.

Approval is one thing - it has to be done by a member of the profile's Trusted List

Completion is another thing - it can be done by any WikiTree member, but it ideally should be done by someone familiar with the profiles and who will clean up the merged profile to best reflect the facts.

after 30 days, it goes into default approval -- so anybody can complete the merge after that.

However, there used to be a bug where a proposed merge would get stuck and never default approved. The only way to fix that is to remove the merge, and re-propose and wait another 30 days.

If you find that there are multiple profiles with this problem and PM, especially if you would like to be PM because they are a relative, you can follow the unresponsive PM process, which could potentially get all profiles from that PM orphaned, if you request that in the form.
