A Daniel S. Campbell (presumably not our guy, but the older Daniel S. Campbell found in 1830 and 1840 census records) bought 39 acres in Mahoning Township, Mercer Co. (now in Lawrence Co.) in Novermber 1824 (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSNL-SKCL?i=286&cat=235255, right-hand side, second paragraph above the line in the middle of the page; see also https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS4N-S9QF-Y?i=55&cat=235255, right-hand side, lower half, continuing to next page). Daniel with his wife Elizabeth sold this land again in June 1840 (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS41-5JFV?i=275, bottom of right-hand side and continuing to next page).
There is no record of a Daniel S. Campbell in the land deeds of Lawrence Co. (which was formed 1849 from parts of Mercer and Butler Counties); this is consistent with him being described as a laborer without real estate in the census records.
