Surnamedb.com is a free site with close to 50,000 surnames. Weldon is ranked 639th. 'The earliest know Weldon, spelled Weldone is Geoffrey de Weldone of Huntingdon, recorded in the Hundred Rolls for that city in 1273. This was in the reign of King Edward 1st, known as "The Hammer of the Scots", 1272-1307.'

Wonderful stuff. I had Weldons from around that time, who I read somewhere came with William the Conquere to England. But now I have more to go on. Source is also useful. Thanks again Frank.
