News

  • This week we had a problem with Biography dump. This is a reason for a very late dump. So I don't have the new bios data and all biography related suggestions corrected last week will still be showing. Try to ignore them until monday.
  • Due to country table improvement, there are many new suggestions in 6x8 suggestions. There may be some bug but also many typos.
  • I have split the table into 5 smaller ones similar to the WT+ online grouping. You can now jump to each table directly from TOC. Also each table has the totals for that table.

Previous News

  • There was a bug in unconnected profiles showing more and more profiles, that were connected as unconnected. This is now resolved.
  • Pre1500 profiles for suggestion 921 were all unprotected as requested by pre1500 group.
  • Added new suggestion regarding inline references. It is 872 Named Inline citation error. This performs additional checks similar to 871 and 872 but for named references. and just for the additional close tag (/ref). There are some other instances of typos listed here.
  • A new version of WikiTree+ Chrome Extension is published. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/wikitree%20/giodhdfeabddjnlhknbggojlgpnhanof Changes in version 0.3.6 are:
    • Resolved a URL change of Edit page on WikiTree
    • Resolved a problem with not saving if no manual changes were made.
    • Turning off the Enhanced editor on Extension use.
  • Spatial modul of WikiTree+ got a new addition. Maps. There are 2 usages of the spatial modul.
  • I added Difficulty rating to suggestions (Easy, Intermediate and Advanced). That identifies the required expirience to resolve a suggestion.
  • Made some data updates in the country table. I also added a column showing the item difference since the last week. https://wikitree.sdms.si/function/WTShowTable/Table.htm?table=Countries
  • Added a new magic word construct Creator_ + WikiTreeID to the search engine. It finds all profiles that were created by that user. Here is an example for all profiles created by me. https://wikitree.sdms.si/default.htm?report=srch1&Query=Creator_Trtnik-2 You can extend the search to find all profiles created by me and no longer managed by me by searching for Creator_Trtnik-2 NOT Trtnik-2 https://wikitree.sdms.si/default.htm?report=srch1&Query=Creator_Trtnik-2+NOT+Trtnik-2
  • Added new suggestion 421 Hidden marriage on public or open profiles. A marriage can be hidden from displaying on the profiles. This is used for additional privacy. But using it on open and public profiels is not its intent. It is causing problems with suggestions, where you don't see the marriage on the profile and have no idea of what is wrong until you enter the edit mode, where you can see the marriage.
  • Wikidata template got sameas parameter. It will function same as with FindAGrave template.
  • I added additional checking of template parameters. That was in suggestion 848. I created 4 new ones 894-897 that will cover all parameter problems. In suggestion 897 Error in template parameters I added checking of parameters that link to WikiTree pages. It is done for Categories, Projects, Space pages and Project Needs categories.
  • Added new magic word SourceJunkUnmergedMatchPendingMerge and templatetext=Andersson to WikiTree+ search engine.

Rather than being a "Data Doctor", It looks like Aleš Trtnik should be a "Data Surgeon"! :-D

Thanks for this info, I adopted 190+ profiles on October 1, from a distant relative who is no longer active and wondered why there were no suggestions for them-as the profiles are incomplete.

Thank you, Aleš! Loving the map and the magic words. I thought you were catching your breath after the Source-a-thon :)

  • Added new suggestion regarding inline references. It is 872 Named Inline citation error. This performs additional checks similar to 871 and 872 but for named references. and just for the additional close tag (/ref). There are some other instances of typos listed here.

I corrected tons of these new ref-tag errors last week & they're still showing as errors this week. I had assumed the problem was related to the glitch you talked about, but they're still showing today, after your comment that the glitch was fixed & the report re-run. I don't think I could have managed to miss a ref-tag error on ALL the ones I fixed last week, but... Should I be trying to find an error I missed or just wait for the next report and hope for the best?

Thanks!

On my Suggestions list, I'm also still seeing suggestions that I believe were/are related to the problem with the Biography dump. For example:

213 Missing fathers DNA confirmation

313 Missing mothers DNA confirmation

The required "paternal/maternal" and "confirmed" words are included in the confirmation statements in the bios of the associated child profiles.

Can you give explicit examples, so I can track the data. The dump changed significantly and there might be some bug.
Rick, I forgot to recalculate 213 and 313 suggestions. I did only FindAGrave, 800 and 900 ones.

I am already processing the new ones, so wait until tomorrow.

https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Clinton-211&diff=112003004&oldid=111968720 - corrected refname to ref name on 29 Sept ... Clinton-211 is still on suggestions list for WikiTree-36, along with all the others.

looking closer, it looks like all the ones still showing as an error are DBE 872 Named Inline citation error
Will do - thanks, Aleš!
Liz, that one was edited again 3 days ago and should be resolved in the new dump. Any other example, that wasn't edited after?
i just noticed that the suggestion list is now dated 12 October - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Clinton-211 is still on the suggestion list for the 872 DBE that was corrected 29 September
That is what I thought was the problem. I am missing the changes for 29th September and maybe  +- one day. I wrote to Brian about this and I hope it will be resolved soon.
Thanks for checking. I just looked at additional DBEs that weren't cleared & they were all corrected on 29 September - except for two 872 errors, which had been corrected on the 22nd (but both had had subsequent changes).

There was 3rd DBE corrected the 22nd, and also the 29th. It was an 896 "Unknown parameter in template" error with the EE citation template, so it may be it hasn't yet actually been corrected yet, but no other edits after 29 September for the profile: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Throckmorton-305
