The 1800 census for Rockingham Co. NC lists families in Salisbury. Where was that located?

It wasn’t a place,  Rockingham County was part of the Salisbury Census District which included many counties.  North Carolina was originally divided into districts and Salisbury District went all the way into parts of what is now Tennessee before it was a state.
