My father, Willard M. (Bill) Calkins and his sister Nancy Ann Calkins Jackson, both had Freidreich's Ataxia. and both passed away before the age of 70.  They were orphaned at very early ages and my siblings and I are interested in knowing if this issue with Freidreich's is isolated or can be traced throughout the Calkins family tree.. This is a double-recessive gene/DNA issue,  My brothers and I are considered carriers and because of that, we did not have children.
