hi there, Yes thanks for posting that.  I am confused as this William Kells, stated had child with Clara Maud Cate, name of child Thomas Henry Albert Kells DOB (30/06/1896) who is my Great Grandfather .  Thomas Henry Albert Kells father (said, William Kells DOB 1869) is known by family to have come from Cavan Ireland when he was 18 years old to Australia, then stayed with his sister a period, then to NZ.  Williams father is said to have been Thomas kells (Tamer) and mom Mary Anne (or jane) Breen.   So i wonder if this is the wrong William linked to Foster family? as this one states Wiliam was born in NZ.  Or our family history is completely wrong...hence confusion..thanks

If your William was born 1869, it is possibly a different William, or the family story is incorrect.

What the records show is that a William Kells was the father of the registered child -  but not WHICH William Kells (and there wasn't just one).  It is possible that the record is attached to the wrong person, but only thorough research will determine that.

Have you tried looking in Australian immigration records for an arrival around the time your William would have been 18?

There IS a birth registration 3rd January 1870, in Cullighan, Cty Cavan, for a William Kells born on the 15th December 1869, to Thomas Kells, farmer, and Mary Jane Breen.

It is, therefore, possible that this one is your ancestor - and the NZ-born William is incorrectly attached to wife and child.

I've detached the New Zealand-born William from Clara and Thomas Henry Albert - and created a new William with the Ireland birth information and attached him as husband, and father.

If you'd like to take over as Profile Manager, just contact me by way of the Trusted List access request form.  (It'[s under the privacy tab on each profile, but you'd only need to use one.)

I have found and added the marriage registration (difficult to find, because  his last name was misspelt as Keles), which also gave me Clara Maud's last name, so I have corrected that on her profile.

Also, in looking for sources, I have found the marriage of his parents, and the birth registrations for four siblings, one unnamed male, and one of them a sister - Sarah.  It might pay to look for Sarah in Australian records, if  you know which state she was in when William was staying with her.

I have found the marriage of his parents

I can not for the life of me decipher the name of the Parish.  frown

ETA : deciphered. It was Tomregan.
