New member introducing myself

Question

I have been researching my own family tree for several years.  The family lines that I am interested in include:   Campbell, Helton, Phipps, Dinsmore/Dunsmore,  Leger/Legier, Engle, Logan, Gaines/Gain, Wilbourne/Wilburn.   I will deeply appreciate any information that I receive about the Phipps, Gaines/Gain, and Wilbourne/Wilburn family lines.  They have proven to be the most elusive people and the tallest brick wall I have ever tried to climb!

I never knew either set of my grandparents!  All four people were dead before I was born and my father’s (Campbell) parents’ were dead before my father and mother married.  Plus, he was seventeen years older than my mother.  My father died when I was about five and a half years old, we moved away from Eastern Kentucky where my father’s family lived and my mother’s house and all family pictures burned  - all of this has made it especially difficult to trace some of my ancestors.

WikiTree has a list of 2,527 with the Phipps surname.

The list for Gaines has 2,127 names and the list for

Wilburn has 635 names listed.

You can find the Surnames by going to the Find menu at the top right of this page, then click on Surnames. It easier to narrow down the search if you enter the first name and the surname. If you happen to know the birth year or death year or location that can help too.

There was recently another with the Gaines surname. Gainesville, Georgia and Gainesville, Florida were named after the same person.

During WWII, my father was stationed at Gainesville, GA in the Navy. That increased my interest in the Gaines surname.
