Hello everyone. My name is Madeleine and I have always been interested in where my family has been and where we all came from. I started really cracking into it this summer and have made quite a few discoveries. I've been able to trace some families back quite far and others not too far as they just... don't seem to exist!
I've been looking into Horace V. Cox (Cox-30210) and his wife Laura/Lara Sylvana Ray (1880-1950, born in Madison, NC and died in Buncombe, NC). I have only seen one picture of Laura where she was sitting on a porch holding my great grandmother, their youngest daughter. I have heard several stories about Horace being a "wanted man out West" but haven't been able to string together any evidence. Other than Census information I don't know much about either of them and would like more information or even pictures of them.
Another problem I have encountered has been Samuel Maynard (Maynard-4669). Prior to 1899 there is no record of him in or around Yancey, NC where he was supposedly born. His death is speculated as either 1910 or 1913, per word of mouth by a family member. There is no record of parents or siblings for him except the name Morris Maynard on his marriage certificate.
I am actively researching the Renfro's from Yancey, North Carolina as well (first Renfro in my tree is Renfro-920). I would love to trade information with people, even if it's just pictures.
Looking forward to working on discovering our histories with you all!
